Tacoma Cooperative Culture Night

Cooperatives In Tacoma: Join Kaleb Hoeffgen of the Northwest Cooperative Development Center and explore what cooperative businesses are and the cooperative economy in Tacoma! Learn how we can work together to bring collectively owned and democratically managed workplaces to Tacoma and Pierce County as a solution to business closures, the housing crisis, and local environmental issues

How Does Money Work?: We all use money, but how does it exactly work, and why is it important? In this presentation from Washingtonians for Public Banking by Marco Rossi, participants will learn about the history of money, how it came about, and why—in our modern capitalist economy—banks play such a critical role in determining the overall money supply. The presentation will address misconceptions around banking and money, describe the evolution of banking in the United States, and explain the operations and governing structure of the modern federal reserve.
