"The Public Banking Movement in California"

Trinity Tran is the Executive Director, co-founder, and lead organizer of Public Bank LA and the California Public Banking Alliance. In 2017, Tran created Divest LA which mobilized activists to move the City of Los Angeles’ public funds from Wells Fargo. In 2019, Tran helped lead the passage of the California Public Banking Act, which allows local governments to establish their own public banks. In this presentation, Tran will discuss the public banking movement in her state, and the struggle to create city and county public banks throughout California.
