Candidate Questionnaires
Public banks are financial institutions that are owned by the citizens of a region or state. Public banks have played an important role in the economic and financial development of the United States. Notable examples include the First and Second Bank of the United States, and the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. Currently, North Dakota is the only state that has a state-owned public bank, but the Territory of American Samoa operates its own public bank, and nine banks in the United States are owned by tribal governments.
Washingtonians for Public Banking supports the creation of public banks at all levels of government in Washington. While the organization does not endorse candidates, we do create a candidate questionnaire every election cycle. Read the responses below to find out more about the positions of your local candidates.
